Big change of tune by Anwar
Pada 29-9-1994 ,semasa saya berada di lapangan terbang Hat Yai untuk berlepas ke Bangkok, saya membeli akhbar The Nation berbahasa Inggeris dan dalam ruangan "Letter to the Editor" yang salah satunya bertajuk diatas .
At a press conference on Sept 20, Malaysia Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim among other claims and accusations said: "Al-Arqam is a very minor issue. It is not a security issue. Our action is because our women are treated like sex slaves,our children are denied education,and that is the stark truth...."Al-Arqam is anti-modern and prevents the children from studying secular subjects in this day and age,he added,amidst laughter from his entourage ......................................................................................
The case of the French woman admitted to a mental hospital in Johore was cited as as example by Mahathir, "being passed from man to man until she is crazy.".........................................................................................................
If Anwar knows al-Arqam,he should nott lie taht the movement abused children by not allow them to study secular subjects................................................................
Despite all the intimidation and threats, al-Arqam has not demostrated or commited any acts of violence all this while. Isit possible that prime Minister Mahathir is afraid of his own shadow ?....................................................................................................
Anwar Ibrahim rose to fame as leader of the Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (Abim),the Malaysian Islamic Youth movement. He knows Abuya Ashaari very well as they are both in the Islamic movement and champions of social cause,albeit oen is militant teh other not. For leading demostration in the 1970s to highlight the plight of poor farmers, Anwar was detained under the ISA for nearly two years.
When he released Anwar told his followers that he was interrogated under very bright lights for hours. The interrogator was an old man, judging from his voice,but he could not see him as the interrogator was in the dark all the time, Anwar said.
Anwar had told his followers he would fight against the terrible ISA .Now he is in the government and all has been fogotten.Worse still,from a fervent Islamic intellectual fighting against social injustice he has now turned to inverting lies and half-truths to shut others up,by using the most dreadful ISA.
